A polarizer is an important optical component that
is widely used in polarizing optics to produce the state
of liner polarization.
Glass Perfection provide Glan-Taylor polarizers, Glan-laser
polarizers, Glan-Thompson polarizers, Wollaston polarizers
amoung others.
Glan-Taylor Polarizer
The Glan-Taylor polarizers are made
from calcite. The two calcite prisms are mechanically
coupled at the hypotenuse. The hyotenuse faces are alighted
parallel and are separated by an air gap.

Glan-Thompson Polarizer
The Glan-Thompson polarisations are made from calcite.
The two calcite prisms are cemented together at the
hypotenuse with an index of refraction matching cement
to reduce the interface surface reflection losses. It
suits for low power. These polarizers have a wide acceptance
angle.
